How important is it to change the attitude that art is not a hobby, but a livelihood for a huge number of people? How much time and money is invested in an idea so that it can develop to a finished song, painting or photo exhibition? Why is it a mass consciousness in Bulgaria that when a product is intangible, it is for free use? These are some of the issues that the Bulgarian Association of Music Producers (BAMP) will answer during its campaign "Intellectual Property Classes". It is targeted at the future artists of Bulgaria - the graduates of the arts schools under the auspices of the Ministry of Culture. Some of the most popular Bulgarian performers, producers, composers, lyricists and legal experts will be championing the idea of the value of creative products.
At a meeting with the directors of the selected schools and copyright experts at the Ministry of Culture, the Chairperson of the Managing Board of BAMP Stanislava Armoutlieva and the Executive Director of BAMP Ina Kileva presented the concept of the educational project "Intellectual Property Classes". "Art schools are the best place to start a candid, competent, but interesting for young people talk about intellectual property rights and the essence of the creative process, because the future artists of Bulgaria will be born exactly there", said Armoutlieva. "The efforts, resources, time, emotion and work of many different people behind every creative product and its realization will be the center of the classes into the art schools! Awareness of own rights and the culture of respect for the rights of others is the key point for every creator."
In essence, the intellectual property classes initiated by BAMP will be a combination of educational discussion and a narrative about the creation of different creative projects. Favorite artists from the pop and hip-hop scene will share personal stories about creating their biggest hits and their stance on protecting their rights. Along with them, producers and lawyers will join the intellectual property class.
The launch of the “Intellectual Property Classes” campaign is scheduled for February 2019 and will include the National School of Music, the National School of Applied Arts, the National School for Ancient Languages and Cultures, the National High School of Polygraphy and Photography, and the National School of Fine Arts on the territory of Sofia. Later on, the project will also develop on a national scale.
